Man arrested for killing pregnant girlfriend over conflict in northern Vietnam

Police in the northern Vietnamese province of Cao Bang have arrested a man for allegedly murdering his girlfriend, who was four months pregnant, and buried her body near a local stream. Officers under the provincial Department of Public Security confirmed on Sunday they had apprehended and initiated legal proceedings against Dang Tuan Truong, 24, for murder. Their investigation was initiated after police in Nguyen Binh District received a report from Ly Ton Lai on May 4. Lai stated that his niece – 26-year-old D.M.C. – had not returned home since February 12.

Vietnam Poyun Electronics Co. Ltd., located at Cong Hoa Industrial Park in Chi Linh City, Hai Duong Province, started to be sealed off from noon on Thursday. More than 2,000 workers of the firm had gone to work on the morning of the same day. Following the lockdown, they were unable to leave the factory and needed their friends and family members to supply food, blankets, and other essential items.
