Police in the northern Vietnamese province of Cao Bang have arrested a man for allegedly murdering his girlfriend, who was four months pregnant, and buried her body near a local stream.
Officers under the provincial Department of Public Security confirmed on Sunday they had apprehended and initiated legal proceedings against Dang Tuan Truong, 24, for murder.
Their investigation was initiated after police in Nguyen Binh District received a report from Ly Ton Lai on May 4.
Lai stated that his niece – 26-year-old D.M.C. – had not returned home since February 12.

Covid-19 quarantine period involving new community outbreaks confirmed Thursday will be increased from 14 to 21 days.
The order from Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc came after 84 cases were recorded in northern provinces of Hai Duong and Quang Ninh. Among them were a 34-year-old woman working for Vietnam Poyun Electronics Co., Ltd. in Hai Duong s Chi Linh Town and a 31-year-old man who works at the Van Don International Airport in Quang Ninh.

A factory in the northern Vietnamese province of Hai Duong has been locked down after a COVID-19 cluster was detected on Thursday, leaving over 2,000 workers stranded inside the facility.
Vietnam Poyun Electronics Co. Ltd., located at Cong Hoa Industrial Park in Chi Linh City, Hai Duong Province, started to be sealed off from noon on Thursday.
More than 2,000 workers of the firm had gone to work on the morning of the same day.
Following the lockdown, they were unable to leave the factory and needed their friends and family members to supply food, blankets, and other essential items.

Three northern Vietnam localities recorded 14 Covid-19 local cases Thursday evening, bringing the total confirmed community transmissions in a single day to 98.
Dang Quang Tan, head of the General Department of Preventative Medicine under the Ministry of Health, said Hai Duong Province recorded an additional 11 Covid-19 local cases Thursday evening, bringing the total confirmed community cases in the province to 84.
