tried to found out what caused the accident. reporter: the driver took the sheriff s deputies on a hyped chase. i speed chase. i just heard a loud boom like a construction truck. reporter: what he heard and felt was the stolen car colliding with this tree. another witness said it was wrapped around the tree. around 7 this morning the police got a call about a suspicious car. when they ran the plates. it came back stolen. the deputy tried to stop the vehicle and the vehicle failed to yield. reporter: that led to a high sped chase. the driver was pronounced deceased at the scene and two others were taken by air and are listed in critical condition. reporter: they aren t sure what caused the driver to lose control. sounds like they were trying to some fun. it s unfortunate. reporter: the accident is still under investigation and police have not identified the name of the suspect. now to san francisco where three family members were killed in a house fire
