This issue of continued bad Democratic Socialist political behavior, to the detriment of our society and our children, appears to remain a lesser issue for a majority of Beaufort County s commissioners at the March 1, 2021 general meeting.
It was my vision, my words, North Carolina s great problem, the general assembly s senate initiative, and our state s Democratic Socialist Governor s negligence in favor of political expediency, while Beaufort County s Commissioners just could not make a suitable stand to do what is immutably right. Instead, Beaufort County s governing board opted for a watered down version of a partial truth, and in the end will probably fail to make any difference whatsoever.

Fifty-six years ago I began my teaching career in a social studies classroom at Garner High School. I taught a freshman course in Government/Geography and a senior course in Advanced Government, along with a section of U. S. History. If I say so myself, I was a good teacher, in large measure because I believed in what I was teaching. I was proud to be an American and wanted every one of my students to understand why. I admired the Constitution and those who founded our nation. I taught my students that
they were responsible for making sure that our government did the right thing and that any official, elected or appointed, should be held accountable by the voters. I lied.

The Beaufort County Board of County Commissioners, by a vote of seven to zero at the January 4
th 2021 meeting, set up a study committee of three commissioners to evaluate changing the enforcing of criminal laws from the sheriff to a county wide police force. Municipal police departments would not be affected. The three commissioners are: Stan Deatherage, Randy Walker and Hood Richardson.
This article is written with the goal of sticking to the facts. We have plenty of opinions about the “politics of law enforcement” in Beaufort County. We will bring them out later in opinion articles as the Beaufort County Police Committee completes its work and the full Board of Commissioners begins to consider the Committee’s final report.
A recent article explained how political parties are organized in the United States. All individuals registered by political party have a say in the operations, policies and decisions made by the party they have chosen to become a part of. Unaffiliated or independent voters do not have this right.
Political parties tend to be heavily criticized because those who are knowledgeable of how the system is supposed to work frequently hi-jack it and go in directions the grass roots members oppose. Most party members choose not to participate because of the bad behavior of some of the leaders. This allows the bad boys to become even more powerful.
Many of us are very frustrated with the present political situation in both North Carolina and the Washington, D. C. We cannot bear to watch CNN, MSNBC and to some extent FOX. The major networks (ABC, CBS, NBC and NPR) are about as bad, if not as blatant. Many people have stopped watching all together or have found other news programs to watch. Newsmax, Brietbart, First America News and other conservative platforms are growing by leaps and bounds while the traditional “Mainstream”media are losing viewers. The same trends can be see on the internet.
There is no doubt both the Democrat and the Republican parties have abandoned the people and the Constitution. We are in extremely risky times, both for the economy and the preservation of freedom.
