It had and 19 miles under the surface at point mackenzie, which is about five miles north of downtown anchorage. We have reports of Severe Damage to the infrastructure such as roads and bridges and that sort of thing. So houses, tens of thousands are without power. scenic highways and chunks that have disappeared, whole swaths of arteries that sunk. do you know anything about that? the seward highway is closed. that shut down. the glenn highway going north, my understanding is that has been closed as well. there may be one lane of traffic going now. yeah, some of the overpasses collapsed. some of the roads, particularly on the valley north of anchorage, the cracks are so severe you cannot drive them. people trying to figure out how to get home. neil: you said that alaskans are a hardy breed. this is not you standard fare. no, this is the worst quake s
