MARAWI CITY, May 19 (PIA) For youth volunteers, teachers, and parents of learners of Guimba Lilod Elementary School, painting murals has been empowering for them to join the community in promoting peace. Asniah Mauna-Macauyag, a mother of a kinder and grade 1 pupil, said that her desire to be a role model to her children motivated her to participate in the peace mural painting activity. She shared that parents should show their children how to unite with other people in doing activities. “Kahit papano makita ng anak mo na parang sinasabayan ang activity sa school para malaman niya gaano kahalaga ang pagsali sa activity. Mas maganda na ipakita sa anak mo ang dapat gawin,” she said. ....
MARAWI CITY, May 19 (PIA) Parents and teachers of Guimba Lilod Primary School in this city unite Tuesday to paint the walls of the school with vibrant colors and messages of peace in line with the Marawi Week of Peace 2021. Initiated by the Department of Education-Marawi Operation Center (OPCEN), the peace mural painting highlighted that schools are zones of peace. Anna Zenaida Unte-Alonto, deputy focal person of the OPCEN, said the mural painting is a good instrument in getting across the message of peace. “This is very important because this is one of way of inculcating peace, to remind our learners and teachers as they go to school every day (in the future when face to face is allowed) and all the people that passes by the wall of Guimba Lilod Primary School what peace is,” she said. ....
