And grow from there, consolidate their wins. you also have a very, very large force of iraqi security, army and police in baghdad that would prevent any kind of maneuver or action like we saw in mosul, tikrit, and some of the other places. so let s talk about what we re seeing today. iraqi military carrying out these air strikes on four isis targets in mosul. is that an effective strategy? i don t think so. first of all, the iraqi air force is very limited in their capability. they have small, single wing and prop-driven airplanes. they don t have jets in their favor yet and also don t have ground controllers bringing in those targeting. they have some helicopters, and was ropted yesterday reported yesterday, one of their helicopters was shot down in tikrit. so to just fire indiscriminately within areas, possibly hoping to hit an isis target is a very ....
Conspiracy theories. one theory is did the plane get hijacked, did it land in diego garcia. was it shot down by the military base in diego garcia in the indian ocean. with the lack of answers come those conspiracy theories. as wild as they sound, families are latching on to that. more on that later. but my question to you now is, why are malaysian officials keeping secret the recordings between the cockpit and the ground controllers? the families aren t allowed to listen to it. why is that? reporter: they say because it would prejudice the investigation. the chief inspector said to prejudice the investigation could damage a prosecution. he hasn t said who would be prosecuted in the end. officials say they don t know who made that last communication, the good night malaysian 370, with the last ....

Receiving. this is not the uninterrupted voice cockpit recording that you would hope to have later from one of the black boxes. so that s a little bit different. secondly n. terms of stress, it s an acknowledgement that the co-pilot is making his first ride without a checked pilot and he s riding with a very experienced captain who he may look up to and want to impress. so the idea of being nervous in that situation, it may not reveal. you would expect a certain degree of stress, just the situation for that pilot. what about background noise? what could they get from hearing that? if there were alarms going off but again you d have the co-pilot or pilot keying their microphone to speak with ground controllers and the idea during that five-second transmission the ground might be able to hear something that might sound like a fire alarm, it would be pretty hard to imagine making a calm, ....
i concur. there is nothing out of the ordinary or suspicious with these. matt, if there were a fire on board, and the pilots were aware of it, would we expect to see some language about it some place some time in this, if they knew about it? if they knew about it, sure. but pilots abide by the a rule of thumb. aviate, navigate, communicate. they need to fly the airplane, then they need to communicate with ground and controllers, and then aviate, navigate and communicate with ground controllers at the very last. they need to fly the airplane. so, i wouldn t suspect them, if there is anything real immediate in nature to relay to the ground until they had actually established control of the airplane and fought the fire. it s not out of the ordinary. hank, it seems to me though, it s like if there are two pilots up there, i would think that in a case of an emergency that there would be a protocol like pilot flies, and co-pilot communicates or something. is there not some sort of ....
