Three Harrison residents arrested by Green Forest police on Feb. 25 after a home-invasion style armed robbery and a high-speed chase through southern Carroll County openly discussed killing their two victims and dismembering the bodies before disposing of them, according to probable-cause affidavits.

Three Harrison residents are in custody after an armed robbery and a high-speed pursuit east of Green Forest on Thursday, Feb. 25.

According to a news release issued by the Green Forest Police Department on Friday, the three suspects — identified as Adrien Blanc, 30; Tiffany McDonald, 37; and Tasha Barfield, 33 — are facing charges of aggravated robbery, terroristic threatening, theft of property, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver and felony fleeing after forcing their way into a Green Forest residence and threatening the residents with firearms and “a large knife” before leading officers on a nearly 30-mile chase at speeds upward of 100 mph before finally being apprehended. ....

Local News: Whitaker sentenced to 5 years in prison (12/22/20)


A former Green Forest resident who was arrested in August 2019 after allegedly threatening to commit a mass shooting at the Carroll County Eastern District Courthouse has been sentenced to five years in prison after making a plea deal with prosecutors.
Dennis Lee Whitaker, 45, was arrested on Aug. 29, 2019, after a standoff at his home in Green Forest involving officers from the Tri-City Special Response Team. During the standoff, Whitaker allegedly threatened to “blow himself up,” according to a news release issued by the Green Forest Police Department after his arrest.
Authorities had been actively searching for Whitaker after he allegedly threatened to commit a mass shooting and then kill himself on Aug. 26, 2019, at the Carroll County Eastern District Courthouse in Berryville. According to an affidavit written by Deputy Kenen Martinez of the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, a county dispatcher received a tip that “Whitaker had stated he was planning to bring a gun ....

Local News: Green Forest police receive $109,000 through CARES Act (12/22/20)


Carlton said the funds can only be used for salaries.
“That would probably cover six months of salary for the police department,” Carlton said.
The city has also been awarded a $139,000 grant from the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism to update the city park.
At the Green Forest City Council’s regular meeting on Monday, Dec. 14, the council authorized engineering firm Olsson to move into the second phase of evaluating the city’s sewer system after the company completed the first phase significantly under budget.
Carlton said the city held a budget meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 15. He said Green Forest’s sales tax revenue has increased in 2020 despite the COVID-19 pandemic. ....

Twenty-two law enforcement officers from various agencies participated in The Merlin Foundation’s annual Shop With A Cop event on Saturday, Dec. 12, in Berryville.

Saturday, Dec.12, was a day full of Christmas cheer for many of Carroll County’s youngest residents. Forty children from Eureka Springs, Berryville and Green Forest arrived at the Berryville Walmart to be greeted by a group of local police officers. Each child was paired with an officer and whisked away to pick out $100 in Christmas gifts.
Twenty-two officers from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, Berryville Police Department, Eureka Springs Police Department, Green Forest Police Department and the Arkansas State Police participated in the annual Shop With A Cop event hosted by The Merlin Foundation. ....
