Clemson to Compete at UNC Wilmington Seahawk Intercollegiate

CLEMSON, S.C. Fresh off its best performance of the spring, the Clemson men’s golf team returns to the course on Sunday to compete in the UNC-Wilmington Seahawk Intercollegiate at the Country Club of Landfall Dye Course in Wilmington, N.C. The Tigers will be one of 18 teams competing in the 54-hole tournament held Sunday and Monday, March 26-27.The field includes ACC teams Clemson and Duke, Big 10 teams Maryland and Nebraska, and Big 12 team TCU.Clemson finished fourth out of 16 teams at the Linger Longer Invitational at the Great Waters Course in Eatonton, Ga.last Tuesday.  The Tigers shot seven-under-par 281 in the final round to finish with a three-over-par 867 score.It was the third top four finish for the Tigers this year, as they look to host the NCAA Regional Tournament at the Cliffs at Keowee Falls Course in May.Four of the players who helped the Tigers to that fourth-place finish at the Linger Longer will be in the lineup at UNC Wilmington. Bridgeman Moves to No 9 in PGA University Ranking

CLEMSON, S.C. Clemson senior Jacob Bridgeman has moved from 13th to ninth in the latest PGA University rankings. It is the highest ranking for Bridgeman, Clemson’s top player the last three seasons. It was also the largest jump among players in the top 15 of the latest rankings.Bridgeman has made the jump off a recent run that has seen him finish in the top four in three consecutive tournaments. First, he finished fourth at the Watersound Invitational at Panama City on Feb. 22. He then won the Linger Longer Invitational at the Great Waters Course in Eatonton, Ga. on March 22. Just yesterday he finished third against a national field at the Valspar Collegiate. Over his last nine rounds in these three events he has a 68.22 stroke average.Bridgeman’s performance at the Linger Longer was among the best in Clemson history as he won the tournament by six shots, tied for the largest margin of victory in Clemson history. Clemson senior Jacob Bridgeman made four birdies in his final five holes on Tuesday to finish with  a five-under-par 67 and win medalist honors at the Linger Longer Invitational in Eatonton, Ga. Bridgeman concluded the 54-hole, three-day event with a 16-under-par score of 200 on the Great Waters Course at the Reynolds Lake Oconee.Bridgeman became the first golfer in Clemson history to record three consecutive rounds in the same tournament with scores of 67 or better on a par 72 course.Clemson shot a final round team score of 283 and finished fourth in the strong field that included seven schools from the ACC and the SEC. Georgia won the tournament by four shots over Vanderbilt with an 836 score. Florida finished third at 850 and the Tigers were fourth at 852. Jacob Bridgeman chipped in for an eagle on the 18th hole to finish with a five-under-par score of 67 and is tied for the lead after the first round of the Linger Longer Invitational at the Great Waters Course at Reynolds Plantation in Eatonton, Ga.Clemson is in eighth place at four-over par 292 (+4) after 18 holes. Vanderbilt has the team lead with a 279 score for the first round, while Georgia is second at 280, eight-under-par. Florida is third at 284 and North Carolina is fourth at 286.Bridgeman is tied for first with Fred Biondi of Florida, Ben Van Wyk of Georgia and N.J. Botha of Toledo.
