WHEELING – David Lindelow has announced his retirement as president and CEO of the Wheeling Park Commission. “It has been my great honor and privilege to work alongside the Wheeling Park commissioners and countless other community leaders to further the mission and vision of Oglebay Park,” Lindelow said. “Serving the Ohio Valley by furthering the development of this incredible park system has been a highlight of my career.” Under Lindelow’s leadership, Oglebay has experienced exponential growth and a myriad of park improvements including the refurbishment of 30 cottages; a total renovation of Wheeling Park’s ice rink; a park-wide beautification project addressing much-needed maintenance and paving projects; and a total renovation of all Wilson Lodge meeting and event spaces slated for completion in 2021. ....
Contributed The Kiwanis Club of Steubenville was not able to throw its traditional Christmas party for first-graders at East Elementary (Garfield) in Steubenville but provided a modified version for this year’s festivities, still delivering sweatshirts, pencils, crayons and erasers to the pupils. Normally the Christmas fun includes a pizza party where Steubenville High School Key Club members sponsored by the Kiwanis help serve the lunch and then there’s a program presented by the Good Zoo at Oglebay, featuring an introduction to some unusual animals the children get to pet. “We canceled the lunch and the zoo due to COVID concerns, but we didn’t want the kids to go without their sweatshirts and school supplies,” explained Kiwanis Treasurer-Secretary Tom Timmons.
