Chepngetich Named NCAA All-American After Representing Clemson at National Championship

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – After recording a 24th-place finish at the 2023 NCAA Cross Country Championships, freshman Gladys Chepngetich has been named an All-American as she is the first Tiger to earn the honor since 2016.  “I couldn’t be more proud of Gladys today,” Chepngetich said. “She went out and competed with the best in the nation and held her own with an All-American finish.” Chepngetich, who was the sole competitor for Clemson, completed the Women’s 6k in 19 minutes and 54 seconds to help the freshman secure a 24th overall finish as ran beside the top 255 female athletes in the nation.  For the full results from the championship, click here.  The Kenya, Africa native has impressed all in her first season in the Tiger uniform as she has tabbed four, top-three finishes in the six meets of the 2023 campaign. Chepngetich Advances to NCAA Championship After Top-Five Finish at Regionals

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – After earning a fifth place finish at the NCAA Southeast Regionals, freshman Gladys Chepngetich officially secured her place in the NCAA Championships as she is the first female to be named an individual automatic qualifier for Clemson since 2018.  In the Women’s 6k, the Tigers finished 13th overall and in the Men’s 10k, the Tigers finished 15th overall.In the 10k, Victor Ndiwa was the first to cross the line for Clemson as he secured a top-25 finish. Ndiwa completed the event in 29 minutes and 39 seconds and had an average pace of four minutes and 46 seconds. In the 6k, Chepngetich recorded a fifth-place finish as she was the first female to cross the line for the Tigers. Chepngetich Named ACC Freshman of the Year, Tigers Complete ACC Championship

Tallahassee, Fla. – Newcomer Gladys Chepngetich was named ACC Women’s Freshman of the Year and was tabbed to the 2023 All-ACC team alongside junior Sawyer Dagan as the Clemson Tigers complete the conference cross country championship in Tallahassee. “The ACC is a tough conference and I am really proud of how both teams competed today. It was great to see Sawyer grab an All ACC spot and an honor for Gladys as she captured the ACC freshman of the year award,” Head Coach Vicky Pounds said. On the women’s side, Chengetich was the first to cross the line for Clemson as she completed the 6k in 19 minutes and 58 seconds to earn a seventh place overall finish. Being the first true freshman to cross the line in the 6k, Chepngetich was crowned Freshman of the Year for the women. As one of the Top-21 finishers, Chepngetich was also named to the Women’s All-ACC team.On the men’s side, Dagan crossed the line first for the Tigers as he completed the 8k in 23 minutes and 40 seconds, ....
