Broadcast center, this is abc news. Police are trying to move protesters who shutdown highway 24 in oakland. And in berkeley, protesters stand up to vandals breaking into businesses. Good evening. Im katie marzulo. We have live pictures from sky 7hd. The protesters right now on bancroft near dana and walking as you can see fairly straight forward at this hour. Some of the quieter moments we have seen as the protest has made its way from berkeley to oakland and back of take a look at some dramatic video from earlier in the night. Around 8 45 the protesters are ma of to highway 24 in oakland. They stopped traffic for nearly an hour. At one point, police say a protestor threw an explosive at officers. You can see that right there. Officers are moving quickly take down a protestor and tried to subdue any trouble makers. No word on why the people you can see there are taken into custody. Chopper 5 has been following demonstrators all night and right now they are on telegraph avenue near channing in berkeley. Considerably fewer people in this crowd than what we had seen earlier. Estimates up to 500 people marching through the streets of berkeley and on to highway 24. We have seen some confrontations, though, in the street in the past few minutes including one person who appeared to be kicking in windows at a business. We are told it was wells fargo. It did it not take long for things to get ugly tonight. That is right, ann. Right here where we are at, we were here when a couple of groups of these demonstrators joined forces together here at this intersection of 52nd street. That is when they joined together. They havent met on the football field since 2011, but today, the 49ers battled it out with the oakland raiders. Christien kafton is at o. Co coliseum now. Reporter sheriffs deputies and police were on alert here today. We did see a few incidents going on inside and outside the coliseum. We did see a few incidents of violence, including one that happened just a few feet away from me. We saw about a half dozen Alameda County sheriffs deputies show up on scene in that incident within a minute. Raiders say both men who were fighting were detained and neither was allowed inside. We saw a number of men in custody. The raiders say that was their plan, zero tolerance policy towards any violence. A quick response, and a lot of hard work to maintain that friendly rivalry. This is clearly a longstanding bay area riv
