STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. The Greenmarket returns to the Staten Island Mall this Saturday, May 15 for its inaugural day.
A spokesman for GrowNYC said three vendors would be expected The Orchards of Concklin from Rockland County, N.Y., Francesca’s Bakery from Middlesex County, N.J. and Ole’ Mother Hubbert from Orange County, N.Y. In the mix of producers, shoppers can find bread, eggs, baked goods, vegetables, milk, yogurt and cheese. ....

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. Not so fast on driving to the Mall to score locally harvested food this Saturday. What was supposed to be the first Greenmarket appearance in the New Springville location has been cancelled as the anticipated farmers will not be attending.
A rep from GrowNYC said two producers originally were committed to coming this Saturday The Orchards of Concklin and Ol’ Mother Hubbert. She added that the hope is for better luck next week on the official start of the market for the 2021 season. ....

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. Spring is in full swing in the region, a formidable time for foodies who love their local produce. Enter the Greenmarket at the Staten Island Mall, which returns this Saturday, May 8 for the 2021 season.
Rain or shine, growers from the region will station themselves at Marsh Avenue and Ring Road each Saturday through mid-December. Fresh-caught seafood, local honey, young spring veggies, artisan baked goods and cheeses are some of the products typically available from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. ....

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. From Ariemma’s in Dongan Hills to Schweitzer’s Nursery in Grant City, spinach, kale and tender lettuces populate the borough’s garden centers. And it is with the planting season’s start and Earth Day as inspiration, Borough President James Oddo announced a new campaign titled “Get Your Garden On.”
The program highlights existing Community Shared Agriculture (CSA) programs and farmers markets on Staten Island, helps promote their activities and nudges residents to plant their own food. ....
