But we’re thinking of the food aspect of the month and, pandemic or not, Irish soda bread comes back to the borough for the season. With what does Renato’s Bakery’s cake-y version pair well? And, with Mark’s Bake Shoppe’s bread-like loaf, how can we kick the traditional, Irish food up a notch? ....

And who would think spirits could be so high over seeing Staten Islanders dump their trash? Well, it’s not just any rubbish it’s the organic stuff of the borough, according to Susannah Abbate, Director of Education and Engagement at Snug Harbor Cultural Center and Botanical Gardens, Livingston. The Snug campus now hosts a compost program through the Department of Sanitation’s Bureau of Recycling and Sustainability and the City Council’s allotted funding. ....

Attendees for this weekend will be The Orchards of Concklin Fruit with baked goods, and purchased vegetables and eggs, Francesca’s Bakery Breads and baked goods plus Ole’ Mother Hubbert and Back to the Future Farm Milk with poultry and eggs. It will also be the final visit to Staten Island for the year from popular Sun Fed Beef Grass with grain-fed and grain-finished Angus beef and pastured pork from Madison County, N.Y. ....
