An early friday evening on lake merritt. Its cold and breezy, but its nothing to stop the locals. Ive lived in the area for about 13 years, and all the cool stuff that happens in east bay kind of happens around here, but i do see its always popping over here on the weekends. They look upon lake merritt with joy, and its probably going to be popping again this weekend. On saturday, lake merritt will be the home of an afternoon concert. Its called love lake merritt. We could see things changing and becoming better, but perception is hard to fight. Kimberly miller is the executive director of fairyland at lake merritt. She is one of several organizing the event where the focus is to bring as many people to the lake as possible. Big rig driver was not hurt. However, the truck spilled about 100 gallons of diesel onto the road, 2 lanes of 101 were closed until just after 9 oclock. Tonight as crews clear the scene there of all the wreckage. Meantime, on the bay bridge, a big rig caught on fire on the upper deck this morning. This is just east of treasure island. It caused some gridlock on the bridge. Westbound lanes were closed for hours. One of our producer said it took them more than an hour just to get through the year but point a tunnel. All lanes were not open until around 6 oclock this evening that big rig was carrying produce at the time it caught on fire. Investigators are still trying to figure out what sparked the flames as of tonight, extra chp officers are out patrolling californias roadways. Stephanie says stephanie, certainly an ugly scene. This was a horrific crash. You can tell from the foam right behind me here on foothill road. Thats because there was a fire as we walk over. You can see that this car was speeding likely down foothill road south of stone. Ridge drive and hit this pole. This poll is collapsed and broken up and you can see theyre cones here. The car then continued on. Obviously to this tree where it slammed right into the base of the tree.
Wonderfully the muggy again . I saw somebody and and they came up with it. They said its muggy. I was like, did you hear one usually notice, john, i know i said it like but yeah, it was definitely a guy. I got up to Golden Gate Park and i was like its 60 likes a little today. Not as muggy.
