Clemson Finishes 8th at Florida State Matchup

Melena Barrientos shot a one-under-par 71 on Sunday to record a 20th place individual finish and lead Clemson to an eighth-place team finish at the Florida State Matchup at Seminole Legacy Golf Course in Tallahassee.Clemson finished with a 912 team score in the 12 team field that included eight top 50 teams according to the latest Golfstat computer poll.   It was Clemson’s last tournament of the month, as the Tigers will next be in action at the Clover Cup in Mesa, Arizona  March 11-13.Barrientos had a 224 score for the 54-hole event that was held Feb. 25-27.   She had 12 birdies for the tournament to rank third in the field that included 69 players.     Her 71 was the top round by a Clemson golfer in the tournament on the par 72 course that measures 6,285 yards.Barrientos got off to a tough start on Sunday with a three-over-par score for her first five holes, but ran off a streak of six birdies and three pars over nine holes to get to three-under-par on the da

Annabelle Pancake finished sixth to lead Clemson to a fourth-place finish at the Tulane Classic.    The fourth-place finish was the best for the Clemson team in its seven appearance at the event held at English Turn Golf Club in New Orleans, Louisiana.The entire tournament was held in difficult weather conditions as the average score for the 54 holes was 79.74.   No player shot better than five-over-par for the 54 holes on the par 72 course, and there were only six under-par rounds among the 279 rounds played by the 93 players over the course of the tournament."Pretty disappointing finish today," said head coach Kelley Hester. "The steady east wind made the course play totally differently than what we had seen. Clemson Starts Play at NCAA Regional on Monday Clemson, S.C. – The Clemson women’s golf team will begin competition in the NCAA Columbus (Ohio) Regional at The Scarlet Course on Monday.   Clemson is one of 18 teams in the field, and the top six after three days of stroke play (May 10-12) will advance to the NCAA Finals at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona, May 21-26. The Columbus Regional is one of four regional sites that include 18 teams each.   LSU, Stanford and Louisville serve as hosts of the other three regionals. Clemson is the number-eight seed in the regional that also includes number-one seed Duke and number-three seed Virginia from the ACC.    This is the sixth time in seven opportunities that Clemson has earned a regional bid.  Last year’s tournament was canceled due to COVID-19.
