When someone targets a Police Officer or a Police Station with an intention to do harm and intimidate, that is an act of domestic terrorism. Begin with breaking news in the east bay, and Investigation Underway right now after police fired a suspect who jumped onto the tracks on a bart station in an apparent attempt to get away. It happened at the el cerrito del norte bart station this afternoon. The station has since been closed. Kpixs joe vasquez is live at the scene with breaking details. Reporter the station is still closed, as you can see there is a Large Police Presence here as they are investigating this officer involved shooting. Police say this started around 2 oclock this afternoon when they got a call for a domestic disturbance on board the train. An argument between a young man and a woman. The bart police chief says officers arrived with guns drawn and confronted the suspect. What happened next, we talked to several witnesses about that, including one who did not want to be identified. Reporter its not clear just yet how long the couple aboard the train had been arguing but what we do know it didnt take officers long at all to find them once they pulled into the station, and just a few seconds there after for the whole situation to unravel. Shots fired shots fired. The radio called for officers on the platform as they open fire, and there was a lot of shots and then panic from passengers. Like an m80, like on halloween, and everybody was running out. Bart police chief said his a watching an between a young mad woman aboard the plane and just as they arrived the caller told the dispatcher that young man had a gun. The officers got on the platform and challenged that individual who ran off the train and down the platform and on to the track way and at which time a gun was produced by the suspect. A handgun was recovered at the scene, and the young man that was shot airlifted with lifethreatening injuries, and police have not released details about him or the woman he w
