I am writing to you as a concerned citizen of Lubbock regarding the planned merger of Lubbock Power and Light with the Electric Reliability Corporation of Texas (ERCOT). It is apparent from the reading of past minutes of meetings of the Electric Utility Board of Lubbock (EUB) that this transition to ERCOT has been in progress for some time. I want to encourage the members of the EUB though to put a hold on any further movement to join ERCOT. Governor Abbott has rightly called for an investigation into ERCOT and our state officials must have an opportunity to respond to the findings of that investigation and take corrective action before Lubbock is exposed to the outcome of ERCOT’s gross mismanagement.
