LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Lubbock Power & Light advised the city’s Electric Utility Board (EUB) Tuesday on a “major undertaking,” the migration of most of its customers to the ERCOT grid Memorial Day Weekend and an expected rate increase this summer, which officials say isn’t caused by that transition.
“Everything is on track,” LP&L Spokesperson Matt Rose said. “Everything is kind of set in place. We’re ready to go forward with this. These final two weeks, we’ll be making sure that customers know what they can expect.” ....

Letter to the editor concerns about Lubbock joining ERCOT


I am writing to you as a concerned citizen of Lubbock regarding the planned merger of Lubbock Power and Light with the Electric Reliability Corporation of Texas (ERCOT). It is apparent from the reading of past minutes of meetings of the Electric Utility Board of Lubbock (EUB) that this transition to ERCOT has been in progress for some time. I want to encourage the members of the EUB though to put a hold on any further movement to join ERCOT. 
Governor Abbott has rightly called for an investigation into ERCOT and our state officials must have an opportunity to respond to the findings of that investigation and take corrective action before Lubbock is exposed to the outcome of ERCOT’s gross mismanagement. Considering the colossal, wholesale failure of the ERCOT power grid this past week resulting in much suffering of Texas citizens from Houston to Dallas and Tyler to San Antonio, it would be prudent of the leadership in Lubbock to ensure that the citizens of our community do n ....
