had a viable plan and he made a choice. reporter: now minutes after commenting on the raiders situation, mayor and other city leaders went to the roof to raise the flag of the oakland a s and they are staying and they will have news within a year of a new stadium to play baseball. we did hear one thing from the raiders that might assuage some fans, if you are a season ticket holder and you want a refund, the owner mark davis will make good on that. live in alameda, scott budman, nbc bay area news. while they are upset in oakland, they are smiling on the vegas strip. it will be the city s first nfl team. the city will also be getting a new hockey team, a few months ago the nhl approved an expansion team to play this fall. today s decision to move the team did not come as a big surprise. mark davis was wanted out of oakland for years and a last-minute stadium did seem like a long shot. colin joins us with more on the back and forth and libby schaaf is surprised but should
forward. tonight it s all about looking forward to whether or not to move to vegas. a unanimous decision by nfl owners today has cleared the way for owners to move to las vegas. but they re not moving immediately. we begin with abc 7 news reporter laura anthony who joins us live from arizona. laura? reporter: after today s vote, mark davis told reporters here in phoenix that he loves oakland, but it came down to fulfilling his father s dream to build a world class stadium for his football team. as you know, we just finished a very important discussion regarding the relocation proposal by the raiders, which our owners approved overwhelmingly. reporter: it s a vote that came earlier than expected and was more one sided. all at once, nfl owners voting to send the oakland raiders to las vegas. we work very hard and never want to see a relocation of a franchise, and that means exhausting our options and doing everything we possibly can to get a solution in the existing
three going to the hospital. now to our other top story, the raiders re-location to las vegas. the lone nfl owner who voted against the move is telling abc7 news why he s against re-location. we have the story from phoenix where nfl owners made that decision today. reporter: after weeks and months of hand-wringing, especially in the bay area, this vote wasn t even close. in fact, to hear roger goodell and the owners tell it, oakland wasn t even in the game. for them to give us the support they did today is unbelievable to me. hours after nfl owners granted him permission to move from oakland, raiders owner mark davis seemed intent on moving forward in las vegas. every time i ve been down there and seen people around, they re really excited about it. and i don t know if anybody thought it was going to be really a reality, become a reality. and i m still not sure that i really have taken it in yet. the decision to allow the vegas move was nearly unanimous exce
traditional housing for recovering drug addicts. a fire inspector looked through the building and found 11 safety problems. i discovered the conditions deplorable. water running down the first floor and exposed wires and probably near the water. you got people double and tripled up in rooms. you have rooms that look like there is a lot of junk. fire officials say as many as one hundred people managed to escape the fire and being rescued from upper floor windows. the survivors getting help from the red cross and a temporary shelter has been set up at the west oakland youth center. crews continue to assess the scene there. reporter: that s right fire crews have been on the scene and flare-ups from time to time and they have been able to knock them down quickly. earlier they did recover a body from inside bringing the death toll to four people. the 4th victim has recovered on upper floor towards the center of the building. we have used the dogs and drone technology. we
