At that point, we ended up signing that lease any way. But then decided we had to start looking elsewhere to see if we could find a longterm solution. And if you look behind me, you could still see firefighters here on scene. More than 12 hours after this fire first ignited. Teams have been brought in to shore up the collapsing building to search efforts could continue. One person is still unaccounted for and three others have now been confirmed dead. Flames tear through this three story former hotel in oakland. You could hear and it and smell it. It was like glass breaking. More than 80 people struggled to get out of the san pablo avenue building. I looked at my window and it was all orange and yellow. Used as transitional housing for the most vulnerable. Issues range from mold and leaking pipes to piles of trash and rodent infestation. City records show that earlier this month one of the tenants ask that an in spector visit the property saying the landlord wasnt maintaining it properly. They did visit and verified the complaint. And another complaint at the end of the last year reported electrical issues and that complaint is still open. Tonight we investigate racist language and threats of physical violence at one of the most famous Tech Companies in silicon valley. An east bay man said his employer, tesla, failed to take action after employees made a threatening video aimed at him. Liz wagner is breaking the story tonight. Reporter a worker at the freem factory at the fremont factory said this is proof of the reaction he received on the production line and cant understand why the company ignored it. And tonight tesla is admitting they dropped the ball. This is from inside of the fremont plant. They got ahold of their coworkers cell phone and left him in message. [ bleep ]. Lambert said harassment happened often. It made me feel less than a man. Reporter the alabama transplant said it started in the summer 2015, shortly after he landed a job installing seat belts. The same employees seen in the video made racial slurs and lewd comments, in fall of 2015 he alerted a supervise and in winter the hr department. If you have problems like im having, youre supposed to go to hr and the problem is supposed to be resolved. Hr didnt do that. Reporter tesla tells us that it did investigate when the company said it first learned of the claims last spring. But that it couldnt substantiate them. Hr coached the em kblployees on proper workplace conduct and that is when it stopped. But then the threatening video came to life. Lamberts coworkers made it months earlier but lambert didnt know about it until last summer when hr asked to see his phone in response to an unrelated matter. The company promptly opened a new investigation but lambert said tesla never followed up and his coworkers never got in trouble. Were those employees disciplined at the time. They were not disciplined again separate from the initial coaching. Reporter karmen helps guide hr investigations. We dont feel we met our standard in terms of how we handle the people involved in that situation. We also pointedly dont believe we met our standard in terms of how the investigation was handled. Reporter she said when the hr executive handling the complaint left the company, the person failed to hand it off to a new investigator. Lambert said for months the men continued to intimidate him. Even after the company moved him to a different line. He said he left hr know. I dont feel safe working there any more. Reporter mr. Lack better has expressed that he does not feel safe at work. So what can the Company Pledge to do now to make sure he does feel safe on the job . That is very disappointing for me to hear because i was not aware that mr. Lambert felt unsafe. We will certainly meet with him to better understand what we could do to make him feel more safe. Reporter she said lambert only recently reached out to hr about his new concerns. Last month he wrote this email asking, can i get some help, please. She said tesla reopened the case and that is when the Company Learned the probe into the racially charged video slipped through the cracks. This kind of conduct cannot be condoned. Reporter this attorney is representing lambert. Today he filed an 11count lawsuit alleging tesla failed to prevent damaging abuse from happening in the workplace. They need to send a message from the very top of the company to say this conduct is not permitted and they need to say and do something to the employees who engage in the illegal conduct. Reporter she said the company is now taking steps to discipline lamberts coworkers. Ranging from written warnings to termination. There is a lot of disappointment in how things were handled, which is what is driving us to want to be very transparent about it and talk about what were going to do to make sure it doesnt happen again. Reporter tesla is working to create an online tracking system to monitor hr complaints. She also said the company will offer antiharassment training to all factory employees. Now with the recent dry weather, we took a look at snow pack but what about the rainfall chances across the bay area. Long range outlook, the way things see right now, we may still have wet weather coming back april 5th into the 10th and that is what we are focused into in the long range and we could see above average temperatures return. To the extended forecast. A little speed bump in the mix this week and it is a slight chance of showers as we head throughout thursday. It will dry out on friday. But it will become gusty. 15 to 30 Miles Per Hour and this weekend just looks fantastic across San Francisco. Maybe up to 70 on saturday. For the interior valleys, well go from this average of 75 tomorrow, down to 67 on thursday with a few spotty showers. Then by this saturday we are back up to 77 degrees.
