IOSCO COUNTY, MI - Containment of an Iosco County fire continues to improve as of Sunday morning, according to the U.S. Forest Service.
Since Friday afternoon firefighters have worked to contain the “Brittle Fire,” a prescribed fire operation that spread out of control and caused temporary evacuations of about 65 area residents.
The Brittle Fire is in Iosco County on the Huron Shores Ranger District of the Huron-Manistee National Forests.
The fire, north of Sand Lake and just south of Cooke Dam Pond, was about 30% contained Saturday and is about 40% contained as of late Sunday morning.
