Men and women of remarkable character and fortitude. Fueledaordinary spirit the dreams they held. That spirit lived on to win liberty in the revolution, and bold and the underground railroads, strengthened the brave souls of normandy, it endured with those who gallantly fought the spread of communism, and on 9 11, that same spirit was found in the men and women storming the gates to save precious lives. Heroism thrives in the presence of tyranny, disaster. It is stronger than antivirus. Then any virus. What there are those who seek to erase history and deconstruct the american ideal, remake america into something it was never intended to be. The spirit of heroism stands in the breach, lives in the heart, it breathes in the soul and is woven into the courageous fabric of americans like you. It preserves liberty. It strengthens families. It empowers the extraordinary. The spirit of heroism inspires us to act when others are in need. To build the right things. Join us tonight. Dream heroi
I think of students in college as the best thing to do is to take the teacher, not the course and hear to take these incredible authors and to be in the room, whatever they are talking about. The problem with this festival is there is somebody in every room you want to be with. Douglas brinkley has written biographies of more president s than most of us have ever heard of. Other interesting things a prime focus on the space program. The great space race. Be watching for that. And hes a cnn historian. He has a little basement studio envy of jon meacham. And Margaret Macmillan is trying to make the deal with cnbc. The great historical deal one of those transformative books but so important and jon meacham has written so many wonderful biographies, former editor of newsweek. The assignment is to talk about your favorite historical figure. I want to make that a fun thing so maybe we will get into some other elements. John why dont you start us off with your favorite historical figure. Its

Whatever theyre talking about. The only problem is there is someone in every room. That you want to be with. I think you heard from them all at one point or another. They have also done some the other interesting things. American shots. He is the cn and historian. He has a little bit of basement studio and envy of john meacham. Whos got that at msnbc. Of course the great tester in 1919. Just a transformative book that is so important. Many of us know him from his basement with morning joe. The assignment is to talk about who is your favorite historical figure. I want to make that a free and fun thing. Maybe later we would get into other elements. W
Test. Test. Test. Test. Test. Test. Test. He idea that you cant get outside this bubble, shes found ways to do that. Including famously from time to time visiting places like target in the washington, d. C. , suburbs. Is she alone in first ladies to do things like that . Are they able to visit incognito . Probably visiting a target. Sometimes for her in terms of being alone with her family and free it also means leaving washington. It means going to camp david or going some place where she can sort of walk around and not be the target of peoples attention. Modern first ladies have done similar things. Laura bush went antiquing in georgetown to check out the shops there and that kind of thing, and so the idea that you have to, you know, find some way to, you know, maintain a life outside of the structures of the white house. And bill clinton also famously would go running. Not so much Hillary Clinton, but i feel like the clintons had a presence in washington, as well, actually. So the m
