Devon Bobak woke up ready to stuff pucks Tuesday morning. The Thunder goalie stopped all 31 shots he faced as the Twin City Thunder defeated the Philadelphia Hockey Club in a USPHL National Collegiate Development Conference game at the Advent Ice Center in Wesley Chapel, Florida. “He must of got up early, because he was dialed in,” Thunder assistant coach Cam Robichaud said. “He has been good; in his last five (starts), he has four wins. He has been definitely winning games for us. We have a great tandem; we are fortunate it could be either (Bobak or Connor Leslie) going in net for any given game .” ....
The Maine Nordiques frustrated the Maryland Black Bears with relentless puck pressure Monday afternoon. The Nordiques defeated the Black Bears 4-1 in a North American Hockey League East Division contest at the Ice World Arena in Edgewood, Maryland. “Everything, in terms of momentum and sustained momentum, was rooted from our forecheck,” Maine Nordiques associate head coach Matt Pinchevsky said. “Our forecheck was fabulous, and it started in one big-time wave from the Cannon Green, Makem Demers and Patrick Schmiedlin line. It followed right down the lineup.” Luke Antonacci opened the scoring for the Nordiques (17-9-1, 35 points), scoring the only goal of the first period with seven minutes remaining. The Twin City Thunder selected three 2005-born players who will be eligible to play junior hockey next season: forwards Ryan Leonard, Spencer Hirsch and goaltender Hayden Rising. The Thunder’s other pick, 2006-born Aiden Pisano, can begin his junior hockey career in the 2022-23 season. “You always try to get the best player that will fit in your organization,” Twin City Thunder co-owner and head coach Dan Hodge said. “You are obviously projecting a few years down the road.
