The Maine Nordiques frustrated the Maryland Black Bears with relentless puck pressure Monday afternoon. The Nordiques defeated the Black Bears 4-1 in a North American Hockey League East Division contest at the Ice World Arena in Edgewood, Maryland. “Everything, in terms of momentum and sustained momentum, was rooted from our forecheck,” Maine Nordiques associate head coach Matt Pinchevsky said. “Our forecheck was fabulous, and it started in one big-time wave from the Cannon Green, Makem Demers and Patrick Schmiedlin line. It followed right down the lineup.” Luke Antonacci opened the scoring for the Nordiques (17-9-1, 35 points), scoring the only goal of the first period with seven minutes remaining. Danbury 2 @ Maryland 3 - After suffering a tough 4-2 loss the day before, the Maryland Black Bears looked to bounce back against the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks in another mid-day game. In another back-and-forth contest, it was the Black Bears grabbing the lead late in the second period and not letting go for a 3-2 win. Danbury struck first with a power play goal from forward Alex Krause to make it 1-0. The puck bounced out from behind the net right to Krause, who batted the puck in past Maryland goalie Hannes Kollen. The Black Bears responded less than half a minute later with a goal from Luke Mountain to tie the game 1-1. Mountain received a cross ice pass from Josh Nixon and snapped it past Hat Tricks’ goalie Andrew Pichora. ....
