Twin City Thunder take first look at potential players at USPHL Summer Showcase

Read Article The Twin City Thunder’s goal at the United States Premier Hockey League’s Summer Showcase was to start building chemistry for the upcoming season. Co-owner and head coach Dan Hodge entered two teams into the showcase, which was played at multiple locations in Massachusetts and New Hampshire over the weekend. Both Thunder teams went 2-1. “You are trying to get some looks at players, with our main camp coming in August,” Hodge said. “We had a good bunch of our draft picks and tenders (playing). We had (forwards) Nate Chickering, (Lewiston native) Dominic Chasse and (goalie) Devon Bobak returning from last year out there. We just wanted to see where we stack up and where we need to get to.”

Twin City Thunder select 13 players in NCDC Draft

Read Article The United States Premier Hockey League held its National Collegiate Development Conference Entry Draft, during which the Twin City Thunder selected six forwards, five defensemen and two goalies as they look towards the 2021-22 season and beyond. “We did our due diligence and we were prepared for the draft and were able to get a good list of players, and players that are a direct reflection of the direction we are trying to move in, with some younger players,” Thunder NCDC assistant coach Cam Robichaud said. “If you look at the birth years of the (drafted players), (2002), (2003) and a couple of (2004), and the league as a whole is heading that direction, that young, speedy, skilled player.”

Those words describe former L/A Fighting Spirit (2016-17) and L/A Nordiques (2017-18) defenseman Patrick Romano, who died Saturday morning in a structure fire in Niagara Falls, New York. Romano, 24, of Toms River, New Jersey, was a student at nearby Niagara University, where he was studying sports management and was member of the school’s ACHA club hockey team. He also helped the school’s athletic department livestream sporting events.
