Ive lived in the area for about 13 years, and all the cool stuff that happens in east bay kind of happens around here, but i do see its always popping over here on the weekends. They look upon lake merritt with joy, and its probably going to be popping again this weekend. On saturday, lake merritt will be the home of an afternoon concert. Its called love lake merritt. Prosecutors are now asking for and what it means for the case. We begin the 6 00 hour with an update to that breaking news. Weve been following for you. All lanes on the bay bridge back open after being closed so crews could battle this at fire on yerba buena island. This all started about about three hours ago, and crews put out the flames from land and water to this video showing two fire boats right there spraying the grass. No word on what sparked that fire . No, but it is impacting traffic on the bay bridge. We can say that with certainty. Video from one of our nbc sports bay area colleagues showing a fire truck trying to get through all that. Ooh, thats tough. At one point, the eastbound lanes were closed, causing some traffic to stop and go. This is video taken about two hours ago heading into the city. Today, two of the four men charged in 2021 homicide avoided life in prison as part of a plea deal because of the racial bias of the officers investigating the case. Abc seven News Reporter anser hassan was in court today and has more on how the texting scandal has now impacted a murder trial. Reporter sentences were handed down in the landmark case linked to the Antioch Police texting scandal. I think in this case, this is a strong outcome, all four defendants will be facing, a lengthy prison sentence. This case dates back to 2021. Four suspects were facing murder charges for a drive by shooting in antioch. Gun and gang enhancements would have meant life in prison.
