View Comments Following a contentious regular meeting on Tuesday, the Bossier City Council on Thursday unanimously approved 26th Judicial District Judge Charles Jacobs to serve as Bossier City’s attorney and the hiring of Richard Ray as assistant city attorney. “I just want to express my appreciation to the mayor and the council,” Jacobs said after receiving a standing ovation fom the council on his appointment. “I’m honored to have been considered and to have been confirmed for the position. I know I’m replacing a man that was of the utmost confidence (former Bossier City Attorney Jimmy Hall). I will strive to follow his example and I look forward to working with the council and the mayor as the attorney for the entire city.” ....
It s official.Bossier City has a new mayor. Mayor-elect Tommy Chandler, to resounding applause, was sworn in as the city s new mayor Thursday afternoon at the Bossier City Convention Center which was packed with citizens, and dignitaries including Shreveport Mayor Adrian Perkins, Shreveport City Councilwoman Tabatha Taylor, and Caddo Parish Commissioner, Mario Chavez. Chandler took the time to thank his family members, volunteers, and others who helped during his campaign. He also acknowledged former Bossier Mayor Lorenz Lo Walker who he referred to as a great man. This is a great day and there will be more to come, Chandler told those in attendance. Thank you for taking the time today to see the Bossier City Council and myself be sworn in. ....
