84 year old Pauline Gauvin, a long term care resident in Miramichi was the first New Brunswiker to receive the Covid-19 vaccine over the weekend. . Nicolette Noel of Miramichi was the first nurse to receive the COVID-19 vaccine – while Dr. Carl Boucher of Caraquet was the first New Brunswick physician to receive the injection. The first vaccinations were administered Saturday at the Miramihci Regional Hopsital. Meanwhile, the province reported five new cases of Covid-19 on Saturday and none on Sunday. Public health did revise its total number of cases over the weekend, saying two Saint John area cases were accounted for in other provinces; while two other previously confirmed cases had now been identified as false-positive tests. As of Sunday afternoon there were 45 active cases of the virus remaining in New Brunswick. ....
YARMOUTH, N.S. A fishing industry association in southwestern Nova Scotia has set up a fund to collect donations for the families of six men who were lost after their scallop dragger sank last week. The Full Bay Scallop Association as well as Yarmouth Sea Products, the company that owned the 15-metre scallop dragger called Chief William Saulis, have opened an account with the Coastal Financial Credit Union. Donations can be made starting Monday to the Chief William Saulis Benevolent Fund at any Credit Union branch across the Atlantic provinces; disbursement of the funds will be managed by a recognized charitable organization. ....
Aerial search reveals no sign of scallop fishermen or boat lost off southwest N.S. by The Canadian Press Last Updated Dec 20, 2020 at 10:26 am EDT HILLSBURN, N.S. RCMP say an aerial search for five fishermen who were working on a scallop boat when it sank in the Bay of Fundy has not spotted any sign of them as of late morning local time today. Police had said in a news release on Saturday that a search with a helicopter would be suspended until Sunday, but have since corrected this to say some aerial searching occurred on Saturday and was continuing into Sunday morning. ....
