police responded to reports of a theft in an auto parts store. when officers arrived, the suspect took off running into the nearest neighborhood. witnesses report that the man jumped fences and forced his way into two separate homes. a resident inside one of them saw the man with a knife in his hand and heard him say he had a gun though she didn t actually see one. police have a perimeter set up in the neighborhood. and they are trying to take this man into custody. there is a pretty heavy police presence right now at the scene. and, again, we have residents evacuated from the homes as a precaution. so far there have been no reports of any injuries. we will continue to update you as we get more information on the story. thank you, ann. this afternoon a san jose state water polo player is accused of rape. according to authorities he is no longer on campus or even in the country. janine de la vega has more on the action that the university is taking and how students are r
i mean, to pick a trailer up, that s a four horse trailer, that s easily five or six tons. picked it up like it s a piece of like it s a matchstick. our team coverage moves to hollywood. ted scouten is joining us live to fill us in. reporter: right now we are at 58th and arthur just outside of hollywood hills. look behind me here. you can t really see everything a couple trees fell on a trailer. there is also a truck back there. incredibly there were two people inside when it happened. as the storm ripped through hollywood, the rain was heavy and the wind intense. those punishing winds knocked two trees on this trailer at 58 58th and arthur. out of nowhere i heard a huge crash. neighbors in their trailer. he raced to get them out. the trailer is history. she was in the front. the husband must have been in the bathroom or the back. all i know is she was screaming and crying. reporter: he couldn t open the door so he had to break a spot in the wall that was breached
an 18 wheeler had the top ripped off and wound up on its side on i-95. it s like a twister movie. that s the best way to describe it. reporter: joe and fellow horse owners hunkered down at the sand and spurs stable. it was like a freight train. all of a sudden, it was black and everything, wind and everything came through and blue everything. i had never seen nothing like it. reporter: this horse named elvis had a gash requiring stitches. he hit the hinge on the door there, and the hinge went through his left side. reporter: and the horse trailer flipped. it s incredible. to pick a trailer up? that s a 4-horse trailer. that s easily 5, 6 tons, and it picked it up like it s a piece of like a piece of like a matchstick. reporter: from the air, roofs and tar paper and shingles all over the cars and a giant hangar where the goodyear blimp is housed. in hollywood, a mobile home severely damaged a womaned in. we were able to push it away enough to get her out.
