reporter: the florida high school athletic association says no religion is allowed on government property. the school claims it is protected speech and filed a lawsuit in federal court. it is teaching the students that the first amendment doesn t apply when you go to a championship football game. that s wrong. it just flatly wrong under the constitution. reporter: the team was told players could have their pregame prayer on the field, but could not broadcast it. the school maintains that is a violation of civil rights. to thanksgiving prior to an athletic event should not be any different than congress opening up their meetings in prayer. reporter: and once again, as we mentioned, that lawsuit was filed in federal court today. but when we reached out to the florida high school athletic association in gainsville, they said they never received any paperwork. so what happens next mel? reporter: obviously, the judge will set a court date soon and ultimately, t ....
