one business that closed one 20-16 - may not be re-opening at all. and that s even though it was left untouched by flood waters. the city of cedar rapids and the best western cooper s mill hotel were talking about a possible buy out long before the flooding threat.city real- estate manager rita rasmuseen says they ve been in talks with the property owners for about a year.the city had the property value assesesed and made a purchase agreement for more than 5 million dollars. once they closed for the flooding it was decided to move forward with the sale. we have a signed purchase agreement from the property owner that will be presented on the city council agenda for october 11 recommended for approval and assuming that s approved we anticipate closing having them transfer title to the city hopefully by the end of the month. month. if final approval is given by the city council the building will be torn down next spring. the city s flood control updates tuesday - on ....
