Vacaville got help from their friends at cal fire. To have wind and spotting embers across the freeway got everyones attention. Drivers on interstate 80 found themselves in smoke as a vegetation fire took hold at one point closing both east and westbound lanes. A supply company said it started offsite and spread onto their property with pallets and Building Materials burning the crews worked to save the business and about a dozen friend homes. Backfires were set using two roads as fire to create a protective box. Take away the fuel and stop the momentum of the fire as it approached the homes and roadways.
