3 mark tight governor mcauliffe spent the day touring the areas hit by yesterday s tornados this is a picture he tweeted out earlier as he saw the damage from a helicopter. annie andersen is live in the evergreen area of appomattox right now with more.annie satlive before touring the damage here in appomattox, mcauliffe surveyed the area in his helicopter. once on houses talking to people. many of whom lost everything. mcauliffe also met with phil hysell of the national weather service who says that this storm had gusts of 120 miles per hour. mcauffe said after seeing the damage, that really wasn t a surprise. sot- mcauliffe (:12) we saw a lot of debris in trees. but you see an area with a bunch of people out on the ground going trying to find some treasured memento and hoping they can recover something annie satlive sadly after natural disasters we always see people trying to take advantage of the people who lost everything. i asked mcauliffe how they plan to keep that from

how big that tornado was that touched down in appomattox county. this is the damage it left behind late yesterday afternoon. the national weather service says the deadly twister had peak wind speeds with an e-f 3 intensity that s between 136 and 165 miles per hour. they believe it touched down on berry lane and took a 13 mile track northeast. and it was about a quarter of a mile wide. this is only the third tornado to touch down in appomattox county since they started keeping track in 1950. 3 danner we have live team coverage from appomattox. marissa parra and courtney wheaton are live following new details about the storm. chief meteorologist george flickinger is in weather center. we begin our team coverage with marissa parra. 3 3 marissa satlive danner, one of the most important takeaways is that the storm may be over but it is still potentially dangerous to be outside. you can see the wind is pretty strong, and there is a lot of sharp, metal debris that can be easily pi
