welcome to our viewers in the united states and around the world. it is tuesday, october 25th. i m christine romans. we begin this morning with the raucous face-off last night between ron desantis and charlie crist in the first and only debate of the florida governor s race. crist, the democrat, is behind in the polls, nearly out of campaign cash so he charged at the republican governor like a candidate with very little to lose. desantis mostly stuck to his talking points as the two tangled over a range of talking points like abortion and whether desantis will run for president. i would like to see everybody have a shot. i m proud of the 15 weeks that we did. i know charlie crist opposes that even though the baby is fully formed, has a heartbeat, can feel pain and can suck their thumb. i don t want to bana b abortion want to make sure we keep a woman s right free. i want to make sure we don t have a governor who wouldn t allow exceptions for rape or incest. yes or n ....
listen to it. they know when it hits the bottom, it will be 1990, good-bye to the 80s. will this horrible year never end? when the 90s begin, we re starting to see a lot of experimentation. five, four, three, two, one! the simpsons in some sense was inspired by not necessarily hatred of television but distrust. tv respects me. it laughs with me, not at me. you re stupid. doh! i think the sitcoms of the 80s were such a sort of warm safe humor. you see, the kids they listen to the rap music, which gives them the brain damage. and i think there was a real yearning for another type of humor. we were able to spoof fatherhood. what a bad father. which at the time and i stress at the time was bill cosby as a shining example. did you ever know that you re my hero the stuff they got away with because it s a cartoon, the father strangling the child. why, you little! we are going to keep on trying to strengthen the american family ....
hurricane making a likely turn to florida. governor desantis urged residents to prepare for possible evacuation saying now s the time to stock up on sandbags, water, medication. cnn is covering the storm. carlos suarez is in tampa but i want to start with tom sater in the cnn weather center. i guess there will be states of emergency along the gulf coast. we are not there yet why this looks like a big and potentially very scary storm. it will be the first hurricane to make landfall in mainland u.s. this year but a major hurricane and it is going to carry all the characteristics on land. i know everyone from pensacola to cape coral wants to know. we just don t know yet. satellite imagery, the visual imagery, looks good. circulation. a center. yucatan in mexico. hurricane huntered this morns had a hard time finding the center. again even if the center moves about 15, 20 miles in either direction that changes the end goal and the track. this is where it is concerning. war ....

popular president in modern american history. nobody is impressed by joe biden, and that would be including dr. jill. so this is a big problem for the biden family, obviously, but a much bigger problem for the democratic party, which joe biden leads. unpopular presidents drag their parties to the bottom in midterm elections. that s the unchanging rule of politics. you saw it famously in 1994, with republican takeover of congress after two disastrous years with bill clinton. you saw it in 2006 after hurricane katrina. you saw it in 2010 after obamacare. you saw it in 2018. in fact, it may well happen in 2022. we re certainly praying for it. to be honest, the numbers don t show that happening. not even close. in fact, all the indications we have right now suggest that despite joe biden s well-earned unpopularity, the democratic party still again, as of tonight has a strong chance of holding congress in november. the prediction markets, which many believe are more accu ....
