McNeese Opens Conference Play With 1-0 Win Over UCA McNeese Softball beats Central Arkansas 1-0 By McNeese Sports Information | March 12, 2021 at 11:37 PM CST - Updated March 12 at 11:37 PM LAKE CHARLES McNeese softball took advantage of an error and got a clutch two-out single from Chloe Gomez in the sixth inning to begin Southland Conference play with a 1-0 win over Central Arkansas (12-9, 0-1 SLC) here Friday night. Both teams will meet again Saturday for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. to conclude the series. The game was a pitchers duel between McNeese’s Whitney Tate and UCA’s Kayla Beaver the whole night with both pitchers throwing complete games. Both pitchers were back up by solid defenses who made big plays and catches throughout the game. ....

(KPLC) - McNeese volleyball evened its Southland Conference record at 4-4 after Saturdayâs 3-0 sweep over Northwestern State, winning by scores of 25-20, 25-17, 25-22. Itâs the second straight win for the Cowgirls over the Lady Demons (2-6, 0-6) in Lake Charles. McNeeseâs Regan Stiawalt led all attackers with 13 kills and a whopping .440 attack percentage. Caitlin Sharrock added a team-high 18 assists and nine digs while Alexis Lambert matched Sharrock with a team-high nine digs. ....

(KPLC) - The short-handed McNeese Cowgirls (2-1, 2-0 SLC) topped Houston Baptist (0-4-1, 0-3 SLC) in Southland Conference women’s soccer action Friday afternoon in a 3-1 victory behind goals from Anna Watson, Olivia Broussard, and Magalie Depot. With the win the Pokes advance to 2-1 overall, and 2-0 in league play, while the Huskies fall to 0-4-1 overall, and 0-3 in SLC play. As of Friday afternoon, McNeese and Northwestern State tied atop the league standings at 2-0. ....
