THIBODAUX McNeese softball split a doubleheader at Nicholls here Friday night with the Cowgirls opening the series with a 6-2 win before falling 1-0 in the second game of the doubleheader. The rubber game and the regular-season finale will be at 1 p.m. Saturday.
McNeese (29-24, 17-8 SLC) picked up 10 hits in the opening game win and was held to four hits in the nightcap.
Four Cowgirls picked up two hits apiece in the opener. Haylee Brinlee and Kaylee Lopez continued their hot hitting with Brinlee collecting two doubles and two RBI. Lopez picked up one double and scored two runs. Also picking up two hits in the game was Jil Poullard and Toni Perrin.

SAN ANTONIO, TexasâMcNeese softball split its Southland Conference doubleheader against Incarnate Word Saturday with both games going extra innings.
McNeese (25-22, 14-7 SLC) picked up the 3-1 first game win in eight innings to claim the series before falling 3-2 in nine innings in the series finale. The loss snaps the Cowgirlsâ seven-game winning streak as the Cardinals improve to 15-22 overall and 8-13 in the SLC.
In the opening game, McNeese scored two runs in the top of the eighth inning to break a 1-1 tie and Cowgirl starter Whitney Tate (7-7) got UIW out in order in the bottom half of the inning to end the game to preserve the 3-1 win in the first game of a doubleheader.

SAN ANTONIO, TX McNeese softball picked up a season-high 13 hits and got solid pitching from Ashley Vallejo and Saleen Flores in its 6-3 non-conference win over UTSA here Wednesday night to extend its winning streak to four games.
The Cowgirls will play at Incarnate Word this weekend in a three-game Southland Conference series beginning with a 5 p.m. doubleheader Friday night.
McNeese (23-21) scored single runs in the first four innings then added two more in the fifth to take a 6-0 lead. UTSA fell to 11-21 on the year with the loss.

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - McNeese softball completed its Southland Conference series sweep over Abilene Christian here Saturday with a doubleheader win by the scores of 7-1 and an 8-0 (6 inn) run-rule win to complete the sweep. McNeese opened the series with a 7-0 win on Friday.
For the second straight day, the Cowgirls (22-21, 12-6 SLC) got solid pitching, defense, and offensive production from different players.
”Overall, I thought we pitched outstanding in the series, giving up only one run in three games,” said head coach James Landreneau.

HAMMOND McNeese softball avoided a Southland Conference series sweep here Saturday with a 3-1 series finale win over Southeastern Louisiana to improve to 19-21 overall and 9-6 in league play. The loss drops SE La. to 23-14 overall and 12-3 in the SLC.
McNeese jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the opening frame when Cori McCrary led the game off with a single to left field then stole second to herself in scoring position. A sac bunt by Jil Poullard moved McCrary to third base with one out. Kaylee Lopez’s sacrifice fly to centerfield allowed McCrary to score for the early lead.
