Residents from different localities have pointed out issues such as broken and inaccessible footpaths, noting that despite regular follow-ups, the issues persist without resolution.
In the 2023-2024 budget, stormwater drains secured the second-highest allocation of Rs 1,643.72 crore, including over Rs 70 crore for maintenance and Rs 15 crore for emergency monsoon works. However, the Bengaluru Nava Nirmana Party (BNP) highlights that the lack of proper covers for sewage tanks and the neglect of open drains continue to be persistent issues, causing inconvenience for the residents of Bellandur.
The residents pointed out the repercussions of this stagnant project has been felt throughout the community, impacting residents’ health, hindering daily activities, and severing vital connections for transport. The project was initiated before the elections, with the aim of mitigating flooding and improving drainage in the area. However, the work was left unfinished.
