On monday, the northbound lanes were shut down by a big slide. Busy highway 37 is closed in novato tonight. 24 hours after novato creek flooded during heavy rains. As you can see, several drivers ended up abandoning their cars in the water. Caltrans says 37,000 vehicles crossed highway 37 on a typical day. Tonight it is closed from highway 101 to atherton avenue. Reporter julie, if you take a look behind me, you can still see that high water here on highway 37. You can see some glows right there, where the fire is burning at this hour because the fire is only 25 contained. Now crews say it started just about after 4 00 this afternoon in the 6100 block of dry creek road in napa county about three miles west of yountville. Crews battled the 50acre fire, which was killed by a lot of dry brush in the area. However crews were able to make great progress because of change in the weather pattern. Fire investigators say that 85 to 95 humidity with little wind helped them gain ground. That weather will help play a role overnight as crews are dealing with steep brush and vegetation.
