Underwater. This giant sink hole opened up on alhambra county road in pinole. A new slide on highway 17 stopped traffic. At one point, both southbound lanes were shut down. On monday, the northbound lanes were shut down by a big slide. Busy highway 37 is closed in novato tonight. 24 hours after novato creek flooded during heavy rains. As you can see, several drivers ended up abandoning their cars in the water. Caltrans says 37,000 vehicles crossed highway 37 on a typical day. Tonight it is closed from highway 101 to atherton avenue. Reporter julie, if you take a look behind me, you can still see that high water here on highway 37.
