Like something out of a hollywood movie. They used heatseeking technology to find him. And theres a 4yearold canine named yoda who was called to the defiant convict here. Police explained how it all went down. They were able to move in quietly. They had the element of surprise. Cavalcante did not realize he was sur rounded until that occurred. That did not stop him from trying to escape. He began to crawl through thick underbrush, taking his rifle with him as he went. One of the customs and Border Control teams had a dog with them. They released the dog. The dog subdued him. He resisted and was taken into custody. Here tonight, brian todd and danny friedman. They have covered this from the beginning around the clock. And danny broke the news of this capture. I want to begin with you. This has been a fascinating manhunt. It was the Haneeinous Act that committed. Then, he broke out. A crabwalk up a wall. It took almost two weeks to get him. And here we are, right now, and he has finally

My qualifications is im a formerly homeless parent with a homeless child under 18. I had been in a homeless shelter two years ago. If elected to the committee, there is a lot of things that i would like to accomplish that ive seen fall in the shelter seven and a half months. These things were like related to the program areas, such as the conditiomons, simes the areas didnt really promote, you know, a safe and decent environment. For Program Activities to be conducted. The children sometimes played, you know, on things that broken furniture, staff would watch or if the children were going to fall or get injured or something, no one said anything. Thats the main focus. Another area that i would like to see improve would be reporting deficiencies like if there was an incident they didnt report it if a child was injured. The staff wouldnt file a report. It would look like maybe the parents did something. They wouldnt say your child got injured on a chair or got a scratch. There was no kin
Undoubtedly satisfied, then he would not have had the rationale to go in and to conduct the invasion and might have been ugly but Saddam Hussein might have stayed in place. But nevertheless he felt it was necessary for based on the intelligence we had about those weapons he thought it was in the interest of the world in the absence of that kind of agreement that an invasion was appropriate. I supported him in that because we tried the u. N. And i supported him when that didnt work on the invasion. Greatest disappointment was we did not do it well. We made strategic mistakes. The president was told for months that we were going preserve the iraqi army and not deestablish the baath positions. Suddenly one morning it happened and it was not well coordinated. We had not considered the implications of what we were doing and chaos ensued. And there were other mistakes that were made. Im a great believer in my own doctrine the powell doctrine not an army doctrine, its something i made up one
With a focus on the prison system. A harvardpreview with professor talking about a resumeon has become of people are thrown in jail. Incapacitation, rehabilitation, retribution has also looped in our reasons for punishment. We really shifted our motivation for incarceration from rehabilitation. Retribution, a sense that these are somehow deeply immoral actors that we want to submit to the harshest possible conditions. I think we are now seeing the ansequences of what i feel is misguided strategy that we are somehow expecting for the 2 million individuals currently have in prison, if we can exposed them to psychologically brutal conditions, and then release them into the streets, successbe a policy for and a strategy to reduce crime. Part of the conference will also hear about overcrowding in prisons, the vocational programs, and what happens to prisoners after they leave the system. That is tonight here on cspan at 8 00 eastern. On q a,sunday night twotime bullet surprise cartoonists,
