PANAMA CITY Another swath of residential housing for workforce families is coming to Panama City.
The Panama City City Commission on Tuesday unanimously agreed to spend $877,000 to purchase two properties that will become the sites of what officials are calling workforce housing likely to be priced from $150,000 to $210,000 and typically attractive to middle-income families.
Approving the lowest of two appraisals, the city approved $537,000 for the purchase of six parcels on a total of 2.49 acres zoned for commercial use at 309 Elm Ave. in Millville. Bracing for any conversation about the price tag, elected officials kept their eyes on the future r ....

It s a commercial property and so it s worth whatever it s worth, said Commissioner Jenna Haligas. But, she added, Panama City residents should keep in mind this is for the greater vision of revitalizing and giving breath to Millville.
Staff feels a development in this area would not only increase property values, but also improve quality of life for citizens who will live in close proximity to the park and kayak launch, Michael Johnson, the city s director of Community Development Block Grants and state Housing Incentives Program, wrote in the request for approval. ....
