Panama City Beach renovates crosswalks
PANAMA CITY BEACH Local leaders plan to spend about $250,000 to improve crosswalks on the Beach.
According to Panama City Beach City Councilman Paul Casto, the renovations were sparked by a Panama City Beach Police Department study that identified about a dozen areas on Front Beach Road with an uptick in vehicle-pedestrian accidents.
I think it s another example of tremendous growth and us having growing pains and having to keep up with the additional influx of tourists and residents, Casto said of what he believes leads to the majority of the crashes. Panama City Beach to begin Front Beach Road projects in 2021

In a presentation during the meeting, David Campbell, manager of city s Community Redevelopment Agency, said the four projects to begin this year are:
Front Beach Road Segment 3, which will cost about $28 million, break ground in late April or early May and take about 18 months to complete. It will redevelop Front Beach Road from about Winn-Dixie to Lullwater Drive, as well as on State 79 from Front Beach Road to Panama City Beach Parkway. A roundabout also will be installed at the intersection of State 79 and Front Beach Road.
The construction of a signalized intersection at the crossing of Powell Adams Road and Front Beach Road. It will cost more than $4 million, break ground in late May and take about a year to complete. ....
