The Beacon BY YANEEK SMITH, BEACON CONTRIBUTOR OAK HARBOR After losing a key league game to Huron, Oak Harbor rebounded and rallied to defeat Bellevue, 53-38. In the process, the Rockets helped its coach, Eric Sweet, earn his 100th career victory. The Rockets (9-7) fell behind 13-7 after the first quarter, but bounced back to take a 22-20 lead into the half. They held a 33-27 lead after three quarters and put the game away by outscoring the Redmen, 20-11, in the fourth. “We fixed a couple of things defensively, we were rotating a little slow, we weren’t as active as I wanted us to be,” said Sweet. “We talked about some small changes, and the guys were able to execute, get a little more aggressive. Some good offensive possessions helped us to open up a lead in the second half.” ....
The Beacon FROM STAFF REPORTS After a competitive first quarter, Oak Harbor outscored Edison by nine points in the second quarter and cruised to a 61-40 victory over the Chargers. The Rockets (3-3, 2-0 SBC Bay) trailed 12-11 after the first quarter but outscored Edison, 18-9, in the second to take a 29-21 lead into halftime. Oak Harbor won the third quarter, 18-11, and held a 47-32 lead heading into the fourth. Senior Blake Booker had another terrific performance, scoring 23 points and making three 3-pointers. T.J. Hallett made five 3-pointers and finished with 21 points. Old Fort 58, Oak Harbor 50 Holding a 1-point lead, Old Fort outscored Oak Harbor by 10 points in the third quarter to take control in its 58-50 victory over the Rockets. ....
