Oak Harbor boys roll, Sweet notches 100th win

The Beacon BY YANEEK SMITH, BEACON CONTRIBUTOR OAK HARBOR After losing a key league game to Huron, Oak Harbor rebounded and rallied to defeat Bellevue, 53-38. In the process, the Rockets helped its coach, Eric Sweet, earn his 100th career victory. The Rockets (9-7) fell behind 13-7 after the first quarter, but bounced back to take a 22-20 lead into the half. They held a 33-27 lead after three quarters and put the game away by outscoring the Redmen, 20-11, in the fourth. “We fixed a couple of things defensively, we were rotating a little slow, we weren’t as active as I wanted us to be,” said Sweet. “We talked about some small changes, and the guys were able to execute, get a little more aggressive. Some good offensive possessions helped us to open up a lead in the second half.”

Port Clinton boys fall to Eastwood, 56-52

Port Clinton boys fall to Eastwood, 56-52 From staff reports PORT CLINTON Holding a two-point lead heading into the fourth quarter, Port Clinton was unable to put Eastwood away and fell, 56-52, to the Eagles. The Redskins (5-10) held a 42-40 lead after three quarters, but Eastwood (7-5) outscored Port Clinton, 16-10, in the fourth. It was a combination of the Eagles playing well and the ‘Skins missing out on some opportunities making the difference in the game. “I think they did a good job scoring the ball in the fourth quarter. We had trouble stopping them during stretches. It was back and forth,” said Port Clinton coach Ryan Hicks. “We missed a couple free throws and a couple open shots, and they took advantage of that.
