Twin City Thunder win round-robin, earn playoff spot


Meanwhile, the rest of the Northern Division the four Massachusetts team are playing in a more normal playoff format. The top-seeded Junior Bruins defeated the No. 4 Boston Advantage in three games, while the third-seeded Islanders Hockey Club beat the No. 2 South Shore Kings, also in three games.
The Jr. Bruins and Islanders HC will meet in the second-round playoff series for the chance to go to the final four.
Hodge said that the reason for the separate formats in the North Division is to keep teams as close as possible.
“It helps on travel and (keeps teams regionalized),” Hodge said. “We play the New Hampshire teams and the Mass. teams (will play against each other).” ....

The Thunder defeated the Utica Jr. Comets 5-1 on Tuesday morning in a USPHL National Collegiate Development Conference game at the Advent Health Center in Wesley Chapel, Florida.
The win snaps a two-game losing streak for Twin City, which lost 9-2 to the Rockets Hockey Club on Thursday and dropped a 2-1 decision to the Connecticut Jr. Rangers on Sunday. Overall, the Thunder went 7-13 during their six-week stay in Florida.

“It was a good way to end the Florida experience,” Thunder assistant coach Cam Robichaud said. “We started with a big win over the Islanders (Hockey Club) in overtime and finish with a big win over Utica it was a good way to start and a good way to finish. We had some success in the middle frame and some learning experiences as well. Hopefully it makes us a tighter group coming back to Maine, gearing up for the rest of the season.” ....

Rockets HC blasts off against Twin City Thunder


The Twin City Thunder got a first-hand look at Rockets Hockey Club’s offensive firepower Thursday.
The Rockets scored five times in the first period as they defeated the Thunder 9-2 in a USPHL National Collegiate Development Conference contest at the Advent Health Center in Wesley Chapel, Florida.
“I would say they are the most consistent team in the league right now,” Thunder assistant coach Cam Robichaud said. “They have beaten the (Jersey) Hitmen, they have beaten the (Junior) Bruins, they beat the South Shore Kings yesterday. (All those) teams are top teams in the league, (and) they have beaten (them) as of late.” ....

Twin City Thunder's Devon Bobak earns shutout against Philadelphia HC


Devon Bobak woke up ready to stuff pucks Tuesday morning.
The Thunder goalie stopped all 31 shots he faced as the Twin City Thunder defeated the Philadelphia Hockey Club in a USPHL National Collegiate Development Conference game at the Advent Ice Center in Wesley Chapel, Florida.
“He must of got up early, because he was dialed in,” Thunder assistant coach Cam Robichaud said. “He has been good; in his last five (starts), he has four wins. He has been definitely winning games for us. We have a great tandem; we are fortunate it could be either (Bobak or Connor Leslie) going in net for any given game .” ....

The Twin City Thunder gave the top team in the USPHL National Collegiate Development Conference all it could handle Friday, but it wasn’t quite enough to earn a victory.
The Thunder scored two third-period goals to force overtime, but the Jersey Hitmen scored twice in the shootout to come away with a 4-3 junior hockey win at the Advent Health Ice Center in Wesley Chapel, Florida.
“The boys really showed up and competed hard, obviously going up against the Hitmen, the first-place team, a team that only suffered (three) regulation losses all year,” Thunder assistant coach Cam Robichaud said. “The boys got up for the game and they were ready to come and compete to put forth a full 60-minute effort. Aand that’s what we saw, a good team effort, there wasn’t individual plays taking place.” ....
