24th-Ranked Men's Tennis Takes Down Troy

Tallahassee, FL – Fresh off a new Top 25 ranking and playing without their top line player, the 24th-ranked FSU men’s tennis team pulled out a 4-3 win over Troy Friday night. The Seminoles won the doubles point for the 10th time in 11 tries and Andy Petrovic clinched the match for FSU, which improved to 9-2. “Troy played a great match,” said FSU Head Coach Dwayne Hultquist. “When non-ACC schools come in to play us we know we are going to get their best effort. We held out Loris today due to injury and we got the chance to play some younger guys.” Alex Bulte and Youcef Rihane got the Seminoles off to a fast start in doubles on court one with a 6-2 victory. With Loris Pourroy out for the match, Sebastian Arcila didn’t miss a beat on line one partnering with Petrovic. With doubles tied 1-1, the pair secured the 1-0 lead for the Seminoles with a 6-3 victory. Rihane staked FSU to a 2-0 lead as singles got underway. The first-year Seminole won 6-2, 6-1 on line four. Tallahassee, FL – The Florida State men’s tennis team moved into the winner’s bracket at the ITA Kickoff Weekend regional hosted by the University of Florida with a 4-0 win over UNC Wilmington Saturday. The Seminoles moved to 6-0 on the season and will now play the winner of the Florida/Princeton match tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. After dropping the first doubles match on line three, the Noles stormed back taking matches on lines one and two to secure the doubles point and a 1-0 lead. Andy Petrovic and Youcef Rihane evened things at 1-1 with a 6-3 win. Loris Pourroy and Sebastian Arcila then clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 win of their own. Playing indoors, only three courts were available so Pourroy, Petrovic and Arcila looked to close out the match and that’s just what they did. Arcila was the first off on three with a 6-3, 6-2 win. Petrovic followed putting FSU up 3-0 winning 6-2, 6-4 on line two. Pourroy wrapped it up for the Seminoles moving to 5-0 on the season with a 7-6 ....

Men Take Down Stetson And Move To 5-0

BOX SCORE Tallahassee, FL – The Florida State men’s tennis team, playing its third match in just over 24 hours, was challenged all afternoon by Stetson Saturday. The Seminole fell behind 1-0 in doubles before taking that point and then started singles off 1-1 before pulling away from the Hatters (1-2) with three straight wins to move to 5-0 on the year. “Stetson did a great job,” said FSU Head Coach Dwayne Hultquist. “They played hard. Their guys really competed and battled the whole way through. There were three or four opportunities we had to extend leads and we didn’t. They hung in the match because of that. As a young team, that is something we can really grow from. When you have opportunities to put a team away or set points, you have to take advantage of those. It was good we got a win while we learned that but it shows we got more work to go to get those to close them out.” For the first time in 2022, the Noles fell behind in doubles dropping the match on court th ....

Men Complete Perfect Day With Win Over Samford

Box Score Tallahassee, FL – The Florida State men’s tennis team completed a perfect day on the courts with a 4-0 win over Samford Friday evening. FSU defeated South Alabama earlier in the day to improve to 4-0 on the year having dropped just one point in four matches. “It was a good day overall,” said FSU Head Coach Dwayne Hultquist. “We got challenged by South Alabama this morning and came right back and picked up another win tonight.” The Seminoles made quick work in doubles versus Samford Friday evening taking the point 2-0. Youcef Rihane and Bryn Nahrung were off first at 6-0. Josh Dous-Karpenschif and Maks Silagy followed shortly behind with a 6-1 win to give FSU the 1-0 lead. “I thought we were good in doubles all day,” said Hultquist. “We won both doubles points and were in position to win all our doubles matches. I was pleased how we came out to start in both matches.” With two matches moving indoors due to weather (FSU vs Samford and USA versus Stetson) an ....
