A similar plan was used in a class in Webster two months ago. So Wednesday we purchased lesson plans from the same source the teachers used. The lesson that one Pittsford teacher gave to her fourth-grade class. The lesson plan on Colonial Life wasn t available to buy. We could not locate any worksheet or lesson plan that was remotely similar to the ones used in Pittsford and Webster. The company that produced them told us they changed the language. ....

A teacher at Jefferson Road Elementary School in Pittsford used worksheets from an online resource called Classroom Nook during a lesson about slavery in January. The local school board has not approved the website as a source for educational materials, according to Rochester TV station WROC. Michael Pero, superintendent of schools for Pittsford Central School District, issued the apology on Tuesday following a complaint from a parent. ....
Created: April 20, 2021 06:49 PM PITTSFORD, N.Y. (WHEC) Tuesday, the Pittsford Central School District pulled a worksheet the district says was used in one 4th grade class on one day in January. The district shared a photo of the worksheet. It talks about the slaves trip to America and that they agreed to work for colonialists. Pittsford Superintendent Michael Pero says a parent alerted his office to this lesson plan Tuesday. The worksheet was in no way an accurate depiction of slavery during Colonial Times and was highly insensitive in tone, Pero said in a statement. We immediately met with the staff members involved in this lesson and have taken steps to remedy the situation. ....
