Leticia Buckley joins L.A. County s Arts Commission.   Uploaded: , Thursday, Jul 29, 2021 By Press Release The Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture (Arts and Culture) has announced Leticia Rhi Buckley has joined its  Arts Commission, L.A. County’s longstanding advisory body for the arts. The Commission seats 15 members, who are diverse arts community leaders chosen by the Board of Supervisors to represent each of the five districts in the County. Buckley was appointed by Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Chair, Supervisor Hilda L. Solis. It is a homecoming of sorts. Buckley served in various leadership roles as the head of communications and then interim executive director at the former Los Angeles County Arts Commission, which the Board of Supervisors transitioned into a county department in 2019. She is currently the Senior Civic Strategist at 

SCVNews com | Firefighters Douse 5 9-Acre Blaze Near State Route 14

Firefighters extinguished a 5.9-acre blaze near State Route 14 in Santa Clarita early Tuesday morning. Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel received reports of smoke seen from the hillside near the 14 freeway and Via Princessa around 4 a.m., according to Fire Department spokesman Franklin Lopez. “The call came in as smoke on a hillside and we had a working fire by 4:22 a.m.,” he said. Crews, which remained on the scene around 9 a.m. to clear the area, declared forward progress of the fire had stopped just after 5:30 a.m. with a final size of 5.9 acres. No structures were threatened and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

In the Americans with Disabilities Act’s 30th anniversary year, the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture in collaboration with Claremont Graduate University’s Center for Business and Management of the Arts released a new report on Thursday that lays the groundwork for disability-led content in the creative sector. Asking the question “who is responsible for ensuring access to art”, the L.A. County Department of Arts and Culture in collaboration with CBMArts released “Accessibility and the Arts: Reconsidering the Role of the Artist,” supporting Arts and Culture’s mission to foster cultural equity and inclusion and make art accessible to everyone in LA County.
