Family, friends and fans of legendary Warriors Center Nate Thurmond are gathered right now to say goodbye. A Memorial Service for him is being held at San Franciscos Providence Baptist church. Former San Francisco mayor willie brown and warriors head coach steve kerr among those in attendance. Nate thurmond died on july 16th after a long battle with leukemia. He was 74 years old. Basketball fans across the country knew him as nate the great. He was just absolutely fantastic as a player. You know, when you replace wilt chamberlain, you know you really are somebody. Chamberlain was considered the best. Nate thurmond played 11 seasons of his 14year career with the warriors.
