Steamboat Springs City Council members are hoping a local procurement preference policy approved last week will help local businesses compete for city contracts holding a value of over $10,000. At the City Council meeting last.
Thanks to a last-second letter to Steamboat Springs city officials, an agreement was finalized Friday, April 28, that signed over rights to dedicate an easement for a public road to the city. Just a few.
According to the settlement, the city paid Dopplick a total of $108,295.21, with severance of $89,955.65, $10,771.40 in lieu of a contribution to Dopplick’s retirement account and COBRA-related expenses of $7,586.16.
While the settlement still did not provide specific details surrounding Dopplick’s resignation, it does state the city will conduct an investigation into allegations made by Dopplick relating to her working conditions and employment with the city, as well as the working conditions of other female officers employed by the city. The settlement also states Dopplick will cooperate with such investigations.
In a news release from the city after Pilot & Today’s first CORA request, Dopplick said she hopes the city continues its efforts toward diversity, equity and inclusion.
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS After a lengthy discussion Tuesday night, four members of the Steamboat Springs City Council directed City Attorney Dan Foote to explore making Steamboat the first city in Colorado to tax timeshares. Council member Sonja Macys was absent from the meeting, and President Jason Lacy and member Robin Crossan recused themselves from the discussion due to conflicts of interest.
Tuesday was the first time the council discussed the timeshare tax, which would be assessed when a timeshare owner or member trades with an owner or member of another program. Exchanges are often facilitated by third-party exchange companies, and the owner or member deposits their points and then books something else of equivalent or lesser value. The exchange company then charges a fee, and the owner or member pays an annual fee.

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS After voting 4-3 not to renew a contract with Triple Crown Sports, the Steamboat Springs City Council will again discuss the youth sporting organization’s future at its Tuesday night meeting.
Triple Crown CEO Keri King reapplied to hold summer tournaments in Steamboat through the city’s special event permit process, which all outside event groups are required to apply for if they’d like to hold events in town.
